    How it works

Drop the file The page reads it locally. Nothing is sent anywhere, so it behaves the same on a laptop, a phone, or a plane.
Set pages per file Enter 5 to get one file per 5 pages; the last file keeps the remainder. Split is already selected on this page.
Download the parts Each chunk appears in Results as a separate PDF, ready to save. No email, no queue, no waiting for a “processing” screen.

Why “no upload” is the whole point

Most free online splitters upload your document to their server, process it there and keep a copy — some for hours, some indefinitely. For a contract, a payslip, a medical record or a scan of your ID, that is an extra copy of your data sitting on someone else’s disk.

PDFSift has no upload step to begin with. The PDF is opened inside the browser tab, split page by page and handed back as a download. Once the page has loaded you can switch off the network and keep working — that is the easiest way to check the claim yourself.

    Free limits, stated plainly

Free: 3 files per job, 25 MB per file, 10 jobs a day, no account needed. Pro is a one-time $29 and raises this to 100 files per job, 500 MB each, unlimited exports, batch mode and page numbering.

Page-level only: this web app splits at page boundaries — it cannot tell that a single page holds twelve invoices. Text-aware splitting lives in the desktop version; the web tool is its general-purpose core.

    Questions people actually ask

    Is it really free?

Yes for occasional use: 3 files per job up to 25 MB each, 10 jobs per day, no sign-up. Pro is optional, one-time, and not a subscription.

How can I verify that nothing is uploaded?

Open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab and split a file — no request carries the document. Then reload the page, disconnect your network and split again: it still works.

Can I split exact page ranges instead of every N pages?

Yes — use Keep pages (for example 1-3,5,8-10) to extract ranges into a new file, or Remove pages to cut them out. Split handles the “one file per N pages” case.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes. Splitting works on page objects, so there is no text extraction or OCR involved — scans, filled forms and image-only PDFs behave the same as digital ones.

Does it work on a phone?

It runs in modern mobile browsers, but very large files are limited by the phone’s memory. For 20 MB+ documents a desktop browser is the safer choice.

    Other things PDFSift does

Merge several PDFs into one, keep or remove specific pages, rotate a document or stamp page numbers — all under the same no-upload rule.
